[Top 10] Garry's Mod Best NPC Addons (2023)

You wanna know what are the coolest NPC addons ever?

Do you like to be chased by a disfigured, 7 feet lunatic with a chainsaw? You came to the right place, cuz I’ll be showing you a list of my favorite NPC addons for Garrysmod - they come from different games/mods(Crack-Life, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Dead Space, and many more).

Most of these addons will be horror-related cuz they appeared the most attractive to me and they’ve seemed like most work was put into them. Now, now boys - there will be a funny addon here and an adventure addon there, but uh, enough talkin’, lemme show you my favorite NPC addons!

10. SCP-173

It just wants a hug.

To those who faced the horrors of SCP: Containment Breach, will very well know this sweetheart - he’ll follow you, gladly teleport behind your back and break your skinny neck in a heartbeat. You should consider yourself lucky, in Garrysmod you don’t blink, so you can keep this guy in place for all eternity.

What this addon does great:

• Jumpscare generator
• Custom sounds

9. Gnome Chompski

He’s either in space or anywhere else you left him on the way to White Forest(you lazy bum)

This guy is suffering from a Napoleon Complex so don’t mess with him too much, luckily for you tho, it’s up to you whether he can be hostile or not. He pretty much doesn’t give a damn and will gladly shove a boot so far up your arse that your breath will smell like shoe polish!

What this addon does great:

• This guy can also be a playermodel
• You can spawn hostile/friendly gnomes(Start your gnome wars today!)
• Besides that, you can change facial features with the face posing tool

8. Xenomorph SNPC’s

Hippity hoppity, you are now aliens property

Ah yes, this list would be incomplete without an alien SNPC in it, amirite? For those who don’t know about the Alien(there are ppl like dat), the alien is a swift creature that will happily jab you in the head with its tongue, or maybe kidnap you to its nest and introduce you to your date. But anyway, this NPC is always hostile and very high in quality, has potential for cinematic Gmod videos or servers.

What this addon does great:

• Custom animations(attack, movements)
• HQ model textures
• Being spooky

7. Crack-Life NPC’s

Half-Life but on crack

Have you played Crack-Life? I bet that you’ll like this then, this mod has some weird NPC’s from that Half-Life mod with its sounds and animations. It’s a weird mixture of funny/disturbing NPC’s chasing you and trying to kill you. I’d like to create an emphasis on the word “weird” because this addon will surely deliver!

What’s great about this addon:

• Meme factory
• If you played Crack-Life, you’ll have nostalgic vibes
• Has its animations(they’re clunky but they’re there)

6. Cry of Fear SNPC’s

HE COMES

You ever wanted to experience Simon’s advanced schizophrenia in Garrysmod? Well, thanks to this addon, you can torment yourself and run away from chainsaw-wielding psychopaths. There is plenty of other paranormal NPC’s that will scare you #*!)less, if you got guts tho, I suggest you play the original game. Prepare diapers tho!

What this addon does great:

• Comes with the monster sounds from the Cry of Fear game
• Huge list of hostile NPC’s
• Custom animations

5. Dark Messiah SNPC’s

Give it a kiss.

Oh my, it’s been ages since the last time I played Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, but I’ll recognize these lovely, hideous creatures anywhere! This addon comes only with 4 creatures, but goddamn are they entertaining for your massive NPC battles on gm_construct, besides that, I think I saw that spider on Gmod Tower when it was still a thing? Oh, whatever, get this addon, it’s awesome as hell!

What this addon does great:

• The Spider Queen can spawn her lil’ homies to clap yo ass
• Badass music while fighting these things off
• Watch out for poison. It’s pretty lethal ;P

4. Amnesia: The Dark Descent SNPC’s

I played this game only 2 times, once when I was 10 and the second time when I was 17. Never played it again.

It’s like someone picked up a monster from Amnesia and put it in Garrysmod. It’s terrifying, it’s going to chase you and stab you with its disfigured, spooky hand. This addon is truly a cake because the animations seem to be just like in Amnesia, nothing clunky or wack. I’ve had a lot of fun with this addon in Gmod because I didn’t have the balls to play Amnesia again.

What this addon does great:

Pretty much an exact copy of the tree monsters from Amnesia

Comes with Amnesia soundtrack while fighting/escaping the monsters

You can kill them in Gmod, in Amnesia you have to run and change your pants at the same time!

3. SOMA: Infected Construct

*Spooky robotic music*

I never played SOMA, but I did see plenty of gameplay from YouTubers ages ago(Pretty much it’s a modernized version of Amnesia: The Dark Descent) - this fella is one of the monsters from that spooky robot game, it did catch me off guard with its weird, all of the sudden movement speed boosts that always made me crap myself. Besides that, the distortion effects and the lighting elevate the spooky/immersion levels!

What this addon does great:

• Creates immersive horror atmosphere
• Awesome visual effects(Distortion effects, the lights, etc)
• You get a death screen when he catches you

2. Gmod of the Dead: Reanimated

This one is pretty awesome!

Hey bro, if you love zombies this is definitely for you - you have the option of spawning hordes, not just individual zombies - besides that, they infect anything they kill and they can even infect you!

This addon threw me off my feet, it offers realistic zombie models with convincing running animations, plus it has different zombie types - if you like slow zombies, great, if you like fast zombies - awesome, this addon is definitely for you. The addon is incredibly well done and it’s surely the best zombie NPC addon you’re gonna find!

What this addon does great:

• IMO, it crushed other zombie NPC addons in Gmod
• Custom zombie animations(attacks, running, crawling, etc)
• You can set zombie spawners on your map
• Heck yeah, there are even zombie kids that you can shoot in the face!

1. Dead Space Necromorphs NPC’s

...How I wonder what you are

Yes, guys, yes! This is it, the baddest and my most favorite NPC addon in Garry's Mod, the previous one, Gmod of the Dead: Reanimated came very close but for me, I was always a bigger Dead Space fan and I hope you agree - but anyways, this addon pack offers MANY grotesque monsters for you to fight, they come in different shapes, sizes and difficulty levels.

I love this addon because it has the majority(if not all) of the necromorphs from the Dead Space series, the quality of this addon is incredible and the amount of fun I’ve had is immeasurable! This is, in my opinion, the best NPC addon pack there is and I highly recommend this if you’re looking for a challenge and fun!

What’s goddamn awesome about this addon:

In total, there are 55 necromorphs to whack(good luck with the Nexus tho)

Decently imitated animations from the original games

Some of the necromorphs have special abilities

A soundtrack that you can turn on/off

Very well made models
